Sliding Glass Door Window Treatments

Many people have sliding glass doors in their home and it can be difficult to find a window treatment that looks nice and functions well. Luckily, there are all kinds of options out there that you can use to make your sliding glass door look amazing and be a great complement to any room. There are your usual drapes and curtains but some of the more interesting options are fabric sliding panels, vertical blinds, and paneled blinds.

Drapes and curtains are the usual window treatments for sliding glass doors. These can be in any color imaginable and come in a wide variety of thicknesses. Many sliding door drapes are very light in color and are made from thin material so they let in a lot of light will offering a decent amount of privacy. For a room darkening or insulating effect, thick drapes with a thin light filtering layer are the way to go. A good insulating set of drapes can even lower your heating bill throughout the winter. The only downside to drapes is that they tend to be used in so many houses that they look a little plain.

Sliding panels are very cool looking and offer an amazing amount of privacy. These sliding panels come in a variety of thicknesses and have many functional uses. You can use them for your sliding door, a very wide window, or even as a room divider. These offer a professional look that drapes can't accomplish.

Vertical blinds are a very popular option for sliding glass doors. They are just like your normal window blinds but are very large and hang the opposite way. The track is at the top above the door and the blinds hang all the way to the floor. Vertical blinds look great and offer a good amount of privacy with a simple turn of the wand. These can also be used on very large windows.

When finding your perfect window treatment for your sliding glass door, the sky is the limit. You can recreate anything you have seen around town or even on television relatively easily. You want to make sure they open with your door if you have kids or it's easy to have them fall apart.
